A friend linked me to this as I was sort of meandering through some thoughts about vaguely related topics. Love it. Thank you for sharing your words.

Hi Dr.Gafney! I loved this so very much. It brought me to tears. But when I excitedly shared it with a friend it really conflicted them. They felt that this means Jesus was sinful and therefore unable to be a sacrifice for our sins as the Messiah. I didn’t read the sermon that way but I’m struggling to form a response (it certainly challenges what I’ve always been taught but it was welcome for me). I don’t want to make the assumption that you have the time to answer this (and it probably isn’t a simple answer), but if you could perhaps recommend some books or if you have discussed this in a previous sermon you could point me towards I would be grateful

Their assumption comes from the conclusion they are drawing. I did not impute sin to Jesus. Bias is not inherently sinful. It is inherently human.
